After eight years and the successful placement of 580 abandoned German
Shepherds, German Shepherd Dog Rescue Houston is closing its doors.
Unfortunately a lack of new volunteers and monetary donations have made it
impossible to continue our mission to save and re-home German Shepherd dogs
in the Houston area.
In this throwaway society, it's often been heartbreaking and frustrating to
bring dogs into our program who, through no fault of their own, were dumped
at area shelters. The volunteers of German Shepherd Dog Rescue Houston
have been dedicated to helping homeless GSDs in the Houston area for the
last eight years and we are proud of the fact we were able to help so
many of those abandoned GSDs regain their health and self confidence and
find a new life with the many wonderful people who love this breed as we do.
Through this journey we have met and placed some of the most amazing
dogs - dogs that just needed some human attention, whether it be health care
or basic obedience to develop their true potential as companion dogs. We
have made friends within the group and with many of the people who have
adopted our dogs. We have made a difference in the lives of many GSDs - and
they have made a difference in ours. We will not forget them, they all live
in our hearts.
If you are interested in animal rescue, contact a local organization - they
all need help. Volunteer, donate time or money, adopt from an area shelter,
neuter your pets. By doing any of these things you are helping to create a
better life for pets in the Houston area.
